Dear Former Campers and Counselors,
Please join us in August to celebrate Alpine's 50th summer. Come back to camp, swim in Little River, ride a horse, play a little slaughterball, reminisce with camp friends, and celebrate with us. The weekend will begin Friday, August 22nd with supper at 6:30 and conclude Sunday morning, August 24th with a worship service in the gym at 10.
Our hopes for the weekend are the same as our hopes for camp—that it is fun, encouraging, edifying, and challenging. Alpine is still a place where a boy can play hard, nurture a love and understanding of God and His creation, and build relationships with others. We hope that the 50th will provide a chance for you to relive camp memories, connect with friends, unplug for a few days, and encourage one another.
Because space at camp is limited, we are currently opening the weekend to post-college-age alums only, and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are a college-age alum and have served as an Alpine counselor, we invite you to come back to Alpine that weekend as our guest, help us run activities, and work in the dining hall.
Saturday night we will have a barbeque on the athletic field, and if your wife and children are staying in the area, they are invited to join us for supper and the evening program that follows. For those of you who can only come Saturday night, you can reserve a cabin or a room at either DeSoto State Park or a local hotel. See details below. Families and alumni who are not staying at camp are also invited to join us after breakfast Sunday morning for the worship service. Except for the barbeque, meals will only be provided for those staying at camp for the weekend.
Please complete and return your registration form (244kb - PDF) to the camp office. We would appreciate it if you would pass the word along to all your Alpine friends, as we don’t have current contact information for many alums.
Even if you cannot come to the reunion, please make sure that we have updated contact information for you. Tell us more about your families, your adventures, and your memories of camp. If you have any questions, feel free to email my daughter , or call her at (256) 630-2713. It is a joy to remember campers and counselors who have left an indelible mark on this place, my family, and me. Please pray for us as we prepare for Alpine 2008. We hope to see you in August.
For Rapids that Flow,
Mr. O
