Food, Health, Safety

During their stay at Alpine, the camp provides an abundance of good food for growing boys living the active life of a summer camper. Delicious meals are well-planned and served under the careful supervision of our trained dietician, Gail Collins, and her capable staff. Our dining room and kitchen facilities are operated under the supervision of the DeKalb County Health Department.

Campers and counselors enjoy family-style meals in the dining hall

There's more to be had than just great food in the dining hall, however. Campers gather with their cabin and counselors around a table, enjoying fellowship while their meals are served family style. When the hall isn't ringing with conversation, it resounds with camp and praise songs or laughter at one of the regular skits performed by counselors and staff.

Medical Care

Party time in the dining hall

While at camp, a boy's health is the first priority. A resident physician and three registered nurses remain on staff all summmer for minor bumps and bruises. Hospital facilities and medical specialists in Chattanooga are readily accessible in case of emergency.

Each camper is required to have a physical examination within six months prior to camp. In March, the camp mails out a health examination form, a health history (to be completed by the campers parents), and health care recommendations and restrictions (to be signed by the camper's licensed physician).
